Shippagan
Catch the Spirit of a Small Town Shaped by the Sea

0
Home to New Brunswick’s largest fishing fleet, Shippagan offers you the chance to explore the mysteries of the sea.  Go fishing in the Gulf of St. Lawrence and explore the coastal beauty of our peninsula.  When you dock at one of the wharves, chat with a lobster fisherman and hear the tales of our proud fishing heritage.

Learn about the magical marine world!  Spend your afternoon at the Aquarium and Marine Centre, one of the province’s Top Attractions.  Discover the origins of fishing in our region, watch the playful antics of seals in the seal tank and see different marine species such as blue lobster, halibut, haddock and so much more.

Feast on scrumptious seafood or dine on Acadian cuisine at our local restaurants. Sip a delicate white wine while overlooking the harbour and savour the delights that make Shippagan a seaside treasure.

Explore sites as exciting as they are peaceful.  Glide along our waterways as you try out windsurfing… when the wind is at its peak you'll be amazed! Visit the Camping Shippagan beach for an unforgettable view from one of 153 wooded camping sites by the sea. Back in town, follow the 1.8-kilometre (one-mile) boardwalk, known as Sentier Rivage, along the harbour.  See the parade of vessels as they moor and cast off from the surrounding wharves.  And with boats painted bright reds, greens and blues, there’s no end to the colourful character of this seaside town.
